The US debt currently reaches a total of 39,000 billion dollars. Of this amount, $31.4 trillion (81%) is owned by domestic and foreign investors. The remaining 7,600 billion dollars (19%) represents intra-governmental debt, i.e. the state's obligations towards its own funds.
