A multirol fighter plane of the Russians Su-30SM has been destroyed, in an act that can be considered a sabotage act, at the central air base in Rostov-on-Don, wrote the Ukrainian Publication of Defense Express, which notes that this gesture can illustrate the growing internal opposition to the Russian President Vladimir Putin regime.
The war aircraft, with the number 35 inscribed on the tail of the device, was completely destroyed following a fire, without any information or stories about limiting the damage or saving the equipment. The loss of this Su-30sm aircraft, which has an estimated value of $ 50 million, is a substantial material and symbolic loss for the Russian armed forces, according to the Ukrainian publication.
While the Russian state press has retained the silence or minimized the event, the Department of Military Information (Defense Intelligence of Ukraine) within the Kiev Ministry of Defense confirmed the destruction of the fighter plane and assigned it to a larger wave of internal resistance that is amplified on the territory of Russia.
According to the Ukrainian espionage, this act reflects “an increasing tendency of individuals and groups willing to oppose the Kremlin inside, in order to weaken the war machine and to undermine the authoritarian regime of Vladimir Putin.”
“This is another act of opposition to Putin's criminal regime,” said the Information Service within the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense. “The extent of the forces ready to oppose the Kremlin and to participate in the demilitarization of the aggressor state is constantly increasing,” said the Directorate of Military Information of Ukraine.
Rostov-on-Don is a key strategic knot for the logistical and control operations of the Russian army, especially for its southern military district, which is strongly involved in operations against Ukraine, notes Defense Express.
A successful attack or sabotage on such a base does not only harm from a tactical point of view, but also at a symbolic level, from a political point of view, illustrating that “the resistance takes root even in the heart of Russia”, according to the quoted publication.
Previously, on April 23, Ukraine's armed forces announced that they have launched an attack on an important military-industrial facility in the Tatarstan Republic, a region located deep within the territory of the Russian Federation, over 1,000 kilometers from the border with Ukraine.
The target was a drone factory located in the Alabuga special economic area, a key industrial hub that has become increasingly involved in supporting the Russian army war efforts, according to the quoted source.
