The Day of Distinguished Visitors within the exercise “Eastern Phoenix 2026” (EAPH 26) takes place on Friday, April 24, from 10:00 a.m., in Capu Midia Polygon, Constanța county. The event brings to the fore the latest technologies and tactics to combat drone threats. The Minister of Defense, Radu Miruță, was also present at the event.

Organized by the Ministry of National Defense and NATO's Allied Command for Transformation (ACT), the exercise also brings together economic operators from the defense industry, both from the country and abroad.
The Minister of National Defense, Radu Miruță, also took part in the event, where he gave a short speech. The minister emphasized that NATO is an alliance for peace. He emphasized the need for efficient integration of data generated by new capabilities, through standardization and practical use.
“NATO means peace. We are not at war. There are more and more capabilities that generate data, and this data should be collected in a common space, through a standard way, and we should have the ability to extract from this collection of data what is needed. At the same time, another goal is to connect with industry to understand what industry is capable of delivering for the Ministry of Defense. I was previously Minister of Economy and I met three times with different companies, and most they only presented PowerPoint and PDF documents. Now is the time to see in real exercises some devices and we need to understand what these devices can do for the Ministry of Defense and for NATO as well.” said Miruta.

Following the event, Major General Arnoud Stallmann, from the Netherlands, gave a speech in which he emphasized the urgency of accelerating the development and delivery of military capabilities, in the current security context. He highlighted the importance of fast and effective cooperation between NATO, member states and the defense industry.

During the scheduled demonstrations, participants will be able to watch real-time sequences of detection, tracking and neutralization of unmanned aerial systems, as well as the integration of specialized sensor networks. Also featured will be “clean kinetic” precision operations that emphasize collateral damage reduction and strict adherence to target engagement rules.
After the demonstrations, part of the equipment used in the exercise can be visited by the guests.

Exercise “Eastern Phoenix 2026” ends today
The “Eastern Phoenix 2026” exercise runs from April 14 to 24, and the dynamic phase, scheduled from April 20 to 24, is dedicated to testing and validating solutions to combat drone threats.
The representatives of the Ministry of National Defense emphasize that all the necessary measures have been taken to limit the impact on the environment, both terrestrial, aerial and maritime. Specialized teams are ready to intervene to quickly identify and remove any remaining drones or equipment resulting from the exercise.
The authorities appeal to the population that, if fragments of equipment or drone wreckage are discovered near the training ground or offshore, to immediately notify the emergency service 112, to allow safe intervention.
