At the end of the game, Cătălin Cîrjan, one of the players that the selector relied on in this action, spoke about the experience from the national team, about the relationship with Hagi, but also about the departure of Zeljko Kopic from Dinamo.
Cătălin Cîrjan, after the victory with Wales: “I look at him with admiration. He is the greatest Romanian player!”
Dinamo's captain did not hide his enthusiasm after appearing in the jersey of the first national team and spoke highly of Gheorghe Hagi.
“It was very nice. I'm glad I played for Romania, it's a pride and I'm happy.
It is an honor to be coached by him. I learn a lot every day. You know what Mr. Hagi is like, he's passionate, he's with us and he's always teaching us. He certainly still knows his way around the ball. It's hard for me to say what I feel, I look at him with admiration. He is the greatest Romanian player. He told us he wanted to see us all.”
“I was shocked when Kopic left”
Cîrjan also commented on the change on Dinamo's bench. Zeljko Kopic left the formation of “Ștefan cel Mare”, and his place was taken by the Portuguese Nuno Campos, who signed a contract valid for two years.
“I was shocked when the coach changed, I didn't expect it. I was disappointed that mister left, he helped me a lot and I want to thank him. I talked to him, I don't know if he's taking me with him. I found out from the press that he left and I was shocked.
I don't know Portuguese, but I think we will speak in English. I don't know what the future holds. Now I'm on vacation and I'll prepare with the team.”
Dinamo's midfielder also revealed that he will undergo a medical intervention immediately after the end of the national team's action.
“As written, I'm having surgery on Monday. I've got nose problems and I'll have knee injections on Tuesday. I want to have a good season and start over.”
In the end, Cîrjan explained that the victory with Wales does not solve all the problems of the national team, but it can represent a starting point for the new project started by Gheorghe Hagi.
“I can't say this win brings peace, but we have to see the good things we did. That's why we started football, to play every three days.”
