Nicușor Dan, the announcement of the day after the consultations from Cotroceni / What he asked the parties. “Calm down and we'll get through this!”

“De-escalation at this moment to be able to have a dialogue in the future”, was the call of President Nicușor Dan to the parties in the governing coalition, on Wednesday evening, in the first statements made by the head of state after the consultations convened in Cotroceni.
The president stated that these consultations were “informal” and that he convened them because “it is important to know how each of us sees the future”.
“We are obviously in a political crisis. This crisis did not start today. For months, the misunderstandings, the differences of opinion between the parties in the coalition have been amplified”, declared Nicușor Dan.
He said he asked the coalition parties to “de-escalate the public rhetoric”.
“Then, let them look at the future and what we will do more than at the past, let them look at solutions more than problems. I think that, until this moment, each of the political actors has exposed their grievances. The question is how we proceed. In any political formula, majority, minority, we will need dialogue between pro-Western political forces, so de-escalation at this moment to be able to have a dialogue in the future”, continued the head of state.
The parties ruled out a government with AUR, says Nicușor Dan
The president assured the citizens that “we have state institutions that work” even if there is “a difference of opinion at the political level”.
“The pro-Western direction of Romania is not in question. Each of the parties that came today and the national minorities expressly stated that they exclude a government with anti-Western forces, straight AUR, and each of them expressed their willingness to cooperate especially, privately, on the essential projects that Romania has in the immediate period – OECD, SAFE, PNRR. So calm down and we will get through it!”, concluded Nicușor Dan.
Consultations in Cotroceni between President Nicușor Dan and the leaders of the coalition began in the morning and continued throughout the day.
A few hours after the talks with the head of state, the PSD leadership established in the internal forums that the ministers of the party will resign from the Government on Thursday.
Political crisis
On Monday, the PSD officially decided to withdraw its support for the liberal Prime Minister Bolojan, whom it has constantly criticized.
In an event called “The moment of truth”, organized at the Parliament Palace, the vote cast by the social democrats was overwhelmingly in favor of withdrawing political support for Ilie Bolojan: 97.7% “for” and 2.3% “against”.
On Monday evening, after a meeting of the National Liberal Party, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan announced that he will continue to exercise his mandate.
According to PSD sources who spoke to HotNews, before resigning, PSD ministers will delegate their duties to state secretaries in the ministry from PNL, USR or UDMR, so that the government is not blocked.
The sources also stated that the PSD will inform the Parliament and the Presidential Administration that the political composition of the Government has changed, and will give the Prime Minister a few days to go to the Parliament to ask for a new vote of confidence. A censure motion will be submitted in case of a refusal of the prime minister to come and ask for the vote and not before May 1, the sources also stated.
PSD has a deputy prime minister – Marian Neacșu – and six ministers in the Bolojan Government: Radu Marinescu (Justice), Florin Manole (Labor), Alexandru Rogobete (Health), Florin Barbu (Agriculture), Bogdan Ivan (Energy) and Ciprian Șerban (Transport).
The Secretary General of the Government, Radu Oprea, will also resign, according to HotNews sources.
