The USR candidate for the capital's mayor's office, Cătălin Drula, asks the liberal counter-candidate Ciprian Ciucu to participate in the debates in the last week of the campaign or withdraw from the electoral competition, arguing that Bucharest does not need a cowardly mayor.

“We are entering the last week of the election campaign and I appeal to my opponents Ciprian Ciucu and Daniel Băluţă to at least have a debate. Today, such a debate was supposed to take place, organized by Presshub and Freedom House, but neither of them responded to the invitation. The people of Bucharest have the right to a competition of solutions and visions so that they put their stamp in full knowledge of the case,” said Drula, according to a press release from USR, quoted by News.ro.

In his opinion, running away from the debate is disrespectful to the people of Bucharest.

“If I have no expectations from Daniel Băluţă, I had expectations from Ciprian Ciucu. Ciprian Ciucu demands the votes of the right-wing electorate but does not give this demanding electorate the chance to choose after a debate. He is afraid of the debate. He is afraid of the fact that in a debate the voters will see his complicity,” said the USR candidate for the Capital City Hall.

The former Minister of Transport asked Ciucu to have two debates this week, “so that the right-wing voters can decide who will continue the honest path started by Nicusor Dan”.

“If he does not come to the debate, I ask him to withdraw. Bucharest does not need a cowardly mayor, who runs away from criticism and responsibility”, declared Cătălin Drula in a press conference.

In the press conference, he presented documents that he said prove that “Daniel Băluţă and Ciprian Ciucu were not on the honest path in their mandates as sector mayors in their behavior towards the real estate mafia.”

“Ciucu and Băluţă have lost the honest path. They cannot continue something they have not done until now: quality urban planning, according to laws and rules and without favors to real estate speculators,” Drula said.

Cătălin Drula invited all those undecided to enter his website and read his solutions and vision for Bucharest.
