Air defense against “hostile targets” was activated in Tehran; explosions were heard, Iran's Mehr news agency reported on Thursday evening. No further details were provided. These are the first such reports since April 8, when the ceasefire in the US and Israel's war with Iran came into force.

Residents of Tehran claim they heard what they thought were the sounds of air defense, BBC reporters present at the scene reported.
Israel denies attacking Iran, the Times of Israel website wrote, citing a high-ranking official of the Israeli security establishment.
American and Israeli air forces have been conducting airstrikes on Iran, including Tehran, since February 28. Iran responded by attacking Israel and the Persian Gulf countries.
After the armistice came into force, these attacks stopped.
The situation remains tense in the waters surrounding Iran. The forces of these countries almost completely block traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, which is strategic for the transport of raw materials. The US is conducting its own blockade of Iranian ports.
In recent days, there have been reports of further attacks by Iranian troops on ships passing through Hormuz and the detention of Iranian commercial vessels by the American Navy.
US President Donald Trump on Tuesday extended the truce that was initially in force for two weeks for an indefinite period. The prospects for a lasting agreement and further peace negotiations remain unclear. (PAP)
