“The PSD ministers will resign on Thursday”, claims Lia Olguţa Vasilescu. What is expected from the president Nicusor Dan

Lia Olguța Vasilescu declared on Tuesday evening, on Romania TV, that the PSD is waiting for the president Nicușor Dan to intervene in the political crisis and to convince the prime minister Ilie Bolojan that the functioning of the coalition does not depend on one person. The City Hall of Craiova announced that the social-democratic ministers are ready to submit their resignations on Thursday, with the secretaries of state and prefects to do the same in the following period.

His statements come after the social democrats decided on Monday, with an overwhelming majority of 97.7% of the votes, to withdraw their political support for Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan.
Olguța Vasilescu specified that all scenarios are currently open, including the transition of the PSD to the opposition, if the prime minister does not submit his mandate.
According to the social democrat, the president has the possibility to officially state that the current coalition no longer exists if the prime minister remains in office.
“Perhaps you manage to convince Ilie Bolojan that, after all, the country does not rest on one man and the coalition remains standing. If he is not so convincing, then we will go with the other scenarios. On Thursday, the ministers of the Government will resign to show that there is no longer the same majority. The secretaries of state and prefects will also follow (…) in the immediate period. I believe that resignations will accumulate and there will be submits resignations, it depends on how quickly this happens”, said Lia Olguța Vasilescu.
The consultations at the Cotroceni Palace, convened by President Nicușor Dan for Wednesday, take place in the context of major tensions in the governing coalition, after the withdrawal of political support for Ilie Bolojan.
