The Krasnoyarsk residents showed what decorations people worn in the Paleolithic era. Pictures appeared under the heading #Archegrad, which is conducted by employees of the city hall urban planning department.

Presented exhibits of 15.5-16 thousand years. They were found during excavations on the shooter in 2021. Archaeologists have discovered three cylindrical beads and one suspension.

“Unfortunately, in the layer they did not lay“ thread ”, but were scattered in an area of several square meters. Probably in ancient times they were lost. They did not carry some straight functional load, such as stone tools. They were used in a similar way with modern ones – as jewelry, ”said Alexander Barkov, head of the department of Krasnoyarsk Georcheology LLC.

The beads were made of tubular bone, the suspension – from the cutter of the northern deer. Moreover, the work, in the absence of modern thin tools, was done jewelry.

“First, the master needed to choose and prepare the tool, that is, to find stones suitable for properties and make several necessary tools from them. After these tools by cutting, stricting, drilling, make beads and suspensions and then, stringing them in the right order on a thread from the veins of animals or plant fibers, already designed as a full decoration. We understand that this is the need for self -expression among ancient people, the manifestation of their work, ”said Alexander Barkov.

Another find on the arrow still raises questions among specialists. This is a “hook” with a hole from the horn of the northern deer.

“Why this item was used is not yet known. There are no exact analogues among the materials we know. Based on its shape, it may have been used as a pile or nomad, that is, a tool for working with ropes (weaving, untying nodes, etc.). To accurately establish its function, it is necessary to conduct special trasological studies, that is, an inspection under a microscope to accurately determine the traces of use, ”said Alexander Barkov.
