“Disrespect”. Volodymyr Zelensky condemns the visits of US envoys to Moscow

US Presidential Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, Donald Trump's son-in-law, were to visit Ukraine in April. However, the exact date of their arrival is still unknown. Earlier, American envoys visited Moscow, where they talked with Russian President Vladimir Putin and also met with Ukrainian representatives, but outside Ukraine.

Zelensky rails against the actions of Trump's people. “Disrespect”

– I think they need this visit, not us… It's disrespectful to come to Moscow and not to Kiev. I understand that we have complicated logistics… If they don't want to, we can meet in another country, Volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview with the Ukrainian station ICTV.

— We should not make a special sensation out of the arrival of Jared and Wikoff, because we have been in contact with them by phone, during which they expressed their willingness to continue communication and negotiations, he added.

“Perhaps the decisions of the US and Russia were made without Kiev's participation.”

The President of Ukraine also pointed out that if Russia's only condition is to withdraw from Donbas, and the US-Russia talks lead to such a solution, it seems that “the decisions were made without Kiev's participation.” Zelensky emphasized that withdrawal from Donbas would mean a serious strategic loss for the country and a weakening of the army's position.

The president also wondered what security guarantees could be provided to Ukraine and how effective such assurances could be without the presence of land forces.

— If there are no allies on the front line, why won't Russia launch a new offensive some time soon? What will stop them? (…) The White House claims that US President Donald Trump could guarantee security, but he will leave office in 2.5 years, Zelensky said, finally asking “what will we do then?”
