An Israeli soldier destroyed a statue of Jesus. This is how he was punished by his commanders

The Israeli army immediately initiated an investigation into the matter. As reported by The Times of Israel, it showed that “in addition to the soldier who damaged the statue and the soldier who took a photo of it, there were six other soldiers present at the scene who took no action to stop or report the incident.”
“The investigation revealed that the soldiers' behavior was completely inconsistent with the orders and values of the Israel Defense Forces,” the Israeli army said.
Israeli commanders with penalties for soldiers
The findings were presented to the commander of the 162nd Division, Brig. Gen. Sagiv Dahan, responsible for the area where the incident occurred. The military decided to expel two soldiers from the army: the one who destroyed the cross and the one who took photos. Both will also be sent to a military prison for 30 days.
“The remaining soldiers who stood idle have been summoned for clarification interviews to be held later, after which further measures will be determined at command level,” the military said.
The army also assured that “procedures for dealing with religious institutions and symbols were tightened for soldiers before they entered the relevant areas and will be tightened again for all soldiers in the area after the incident.” The Israeli army's highest command was informed about the results of the proceedings and expressed “deep regret about the incident.”
