Spring processing of an apple tree is a mandatory event if you want the tree not to get sick and to delight you with a rich harvest of tasty and beautiful fruits. The procedure also perfectly protects the plant from pests. The author of the blog “Your Dacha” (12+) sprays the apple tree four times in the spring – and his tree bears fruit beautifully.
First treatment carried out in early spring, while the buds have not yet swelled. It is important that the snow has already melted and the air temperature is not lower than +5 °C. The procedure helps get rid of pests that have overwintered in tree trunks or in the bark of a tree – for example, ticks, copperheads and scale insects.
For the first treatment, use a strong mixture of copper sulfate and urea. Bordeaux mixture is also suitable.
Second spray carried out when the buds on the branches have already swollen and burst, but there are no leaves yet. The procedure is performed in dry and sunny weather. If rain is expected, it is better to postpone treatment. Spraying protects well from scab, as well as from damage to the tree by the apple blossom beetle.
Among insecticides, such preparations as “Enzhio”, “Decis Profi”, “Confidor”, “Biotlin” are suitable. But among the fungicides for spraying apple trees, such products as “Tilt 250”, “Horus”, “Forecast” are suitable.
Third spray carried out when the buds have already appeared, but have not yet bloomed. The optimal daytime air temperature is not lower than +15 °C. The procedure effectively destroys the larvae of the apple blossom beetle.
Insecticides such as “Karate” and “Decis Profi” are suitable for treatment.
The final one fourth treatment carried out after the apple tree has bloomed, when small ovaries have appeared. This procedure prevents the tree from being damaged by moniliosis and also reliably protects against the codling moth.
For fungicides, the drug “Skor” is suitable, and for insecticides – “Karate”, “Aliot”, “Shar Pei”, “Decis Profi”, “Alatar”.
