Mircea Lucescu died on April 7, having been admitted to the Capital University Hospital. Three days later, the former selector of the Romanian national team was buried, with military honors, at the Bellu Cemetery.
Many personalities and representatives of Romanian sports came to say goodbye to Mircea Lucescu's catafalque, but not Cristi Borcea, who had great respect for the late technician.
“I would have come without a doubt!”
Borcea admitted that he would have liked to be with Răzvan Lucescu during this stressful period, but the former financier of Dinamo was not in Romania at the time of the tragedy.
“A very big pain, especially for those in the family. Răzvan showed an extraordinary, very strong character, I also saw what was there. I was out of the country, unfortunately. I would have come without just maybe!”Cristi Borcea admitted.
Regarding the initiative of the Minister of the Interior, that the new stadium of the Dinamo team should bear the name of Mircea Lucescu, Borcea took a neutral position. The businessman was silent, however, to emphasize the importance that the former technician had in the history of the Dynamo club.
“I am not in a position to say. I'm just saying that Mircea Lucescu was the man who made so many generations happy and we are proud that he was part of the Dinamo family. He built, had great results as a player, then as a coach!”said Cristi Borcea, according to digisport.ro.
