The Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced on Wednesday in the US the sending of a navy ship for the protection and possible saving of the Sumud Flotilla, which flows with humanitarian aid for the Gaza Strip. “The Spanish government is demanding to comply with international law and respect for the right of our citizens to safely sailing in the Mediterranean Sea,” said Sanchez staying in New York in connection with the session of the UN General Assembly.

Spain is one of the sharpest critics of Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip. The government in Madrid has recently approved the total embargo with the Israeli weapon and cancels already signed contracts with Israeli arms companies.
