According to the data from the investigation, the man had two such attempts, on Thursday, at the Pantelimon hospital in the capital.

The first took place around 4.10 p.m., when he scaled a 2-meter-high fence and left with a copper pipe about 2 meters long. The Police were called to the scene, as well as representatives of the oxygen company, who fixed the problem in 30 minutes.

The patients did not suffer, because the backup facility, consisting of oxygen with a capacity of over 36,000 liters, went into operation immediately.

After three hours, around 7 p.m., the man returned for a second pipe, which he managed to evade and with which he climbed back over the fence, reports Observator.

We remind you that the oxygen supply system failed on Thursday at the Pantelimon Hospital, and the medical staff had to provide oxygen to the patients manually and requested the help of the fire brigade.

Surveillance cameras later confirmed that the malfunction was caused by a person allegedly kicking a pipe connecting the fuel system to a large oxygen cylinder.

Authorities were eventually able to identify and apprehend the suspect, who they say is a 65-year-old man.

“Following the activities carried out in the case, today, April 17, 2026, policemen from the General Directorate of Police of the Municipality of Bucharest – Police Section 9 detected, on a street in Sector 2, a man, aged 65, suspected of committing the act”the law enforcement officials said.
