Passengers affected by the changes will be transferred to the next available flights.

In response to restrictions in aviation fuel supplies caused by the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, air carriers, among others, they increased ticket prices, introduced fuel surcharges and limited the number of connections.

On Friday, the Financial Times reported that the organization representing European airports, ACI Europe, warned EU Transport Commissioner Apostolos Dzidzikostas of “systemic aviation fuel shortages if the Strait of Hormuz is not unblocked within three weeks.”

In the first days of the war, which began on February 28 with the American-Israeli attack on Iran, Tehran blocked traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, which transported approximately 20 percent of world supplies of crude oil. It is estimated that tanker traffic in Hormuz has now decreased by 70-80%. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) emphasized in a report in March that Europe is one of the regions most exposed to disruptions in aviation fuel supplies from the Persian Gulf.
