The projectile was under the skin, under the muscles, the size was from the buttock all the way to the right knee. Weight was about 2 kg,” the doctors said.
The doctors participating in the operation wore body armor and helmets. The recovered explosives were handed over to explosives experts. In order not to endanger the operating unit, the charging part was removed in the corridor, moving part of the equipment there.
Miguel said that he and his partner were driving to the position on an ATV when the car hit a mine.
“I was just thrown into the air. I even started to burn: my entire upper part, my vest – it all caught fire. I managed to fall to the ground and put out the flames with my hands,” he noted.
The military man underwent two operations, and surgeons say that all functions of the leg are preserved. At the moment, his prospects are “good,” the hospital says.
