MApN – New attacks in Ukraine, near the north of the Chilia arm – A target penetrated the airspace of our country
A target entered the airspace of our country, following a new series of attacks that took place on the night of Thursday to Friday, in the area of Ukraine, near the north of the Chilia arm, announces MApN, quoted by news.ro. MApN states that radar contact with it was lost 16 km South East of Chilia Veche, above an uninhabited area.
A MApN team is prepared to go on a research mission in that area, MApN informs.
“On the night of April 16-17, the forces of the Russian Federation carried out a new series of drone attacks on civilian and infrastructure targets in Ukraine, in the vicinity of the border, in the northern area of the Chilia branch. The National Military Command Center (core) notified the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations in order to institute measures to alert the population in the north of Tulcea County, being transmitted at 00:43 a RO-ALERT message”, informs MApN on Friday morning.
The air defense systems monitored two aerial targets in the border area. One of the targets entered the airspace of our country, radar contact with it being lost 16 km South East of Chilia Veche, above an uninhabited area.
The air alert ended at 02:48.
A team of MApN is prepared to leave, this morning, on a research mission in that area.
“We strongly condemn the actions of the Russian Federation that endanger regional security, constituting a serious violation of the norms of international law. The Ministry of National Defense remains in permanent coordination with the responsible allied and national structures, monitoring the developments in the area of responsibility and being prepared to adopt the necessary measures to protect the territory and population of Romania”, say the MApN representatives.
Citizens are asked to respect the recommendations of the authorities and to follow the official information sent through institutional channels.
