London Summit. Radosław Sikorski talked to Volodymyr Zelensky

The head of the British government Keir Starmer, the president of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of France Emmanuel Macron and the chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz took part in talks in London on Monday. During the meeting, leaders discussed “the importance of US-led peace talks for European security and supported the progress made in this regard,” Downing Street said, according to the Downing Street office.

Bosacki, asked on TVP Info why Poland did not take part in the talks, said that recently the deputy prime minister and head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had concluded a teleconference with Zełenski and Starmer.

He also emphasized that at the same time as the talks between the leaders of Great Britain, France, Germany and Ukraine were taking place in London, Sikorski took part in a meeting of foreign ministers of the Council of the Baltic Sea States, which he convened. – So Poland was at the center of the talks today – said Bosacki.

Sikorski previously announced the convening of a meeting of the Council of the Baltic Sea States on October. In a later statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the meeting took place via videoconference, in which the head of EU diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, also participated. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the conversation concerned “the most important security issues in the region, including ongoing talks on ending the fighting in Ukraine, as well as ongoing work within the European Union regarding the reparations loan and the US national security strategy.”

Bosacki, asked in the context of the meeting in London whether Poland did not take part in it due to internal disputes in our country, replied, among other things, that “there is nothing wrong with the fact that the president has ambitions to represent Poland.” – But if he wants to shape Polish foreign policy, I would like to remind you that it is unconstitutional, because Polish domestic and foreign policy is shaped by the government – he said.

The deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also said that the president, before his foreign trips, asks for theses from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which the ministry then forwards to the presidential office. – If the President wishes for one of his deputy ministers or directors to accompany him, it is always the case – he noted.

After meeting with President Macron, Chancellor Merz and President Zelensky in London, Prime Minister Starmer held a telephone conversation with other allies from European countries. Then, together with the President of Ukraine, he presented the latest news.

A statement issued by the British Prime Minister's office said that the leaders of Great Britain, France, Germany and Ukraine, as well as the leaders of Kiev's other partner countries, believe that a critical moment has come and therefore support for the Ukrainian side should be increased. The Downing Street office said that at Monday's meeting, leaders discussed “the importance of US-led peace talks for European security and supported the progress made.”

The leaders once again stressed – as we read – “the need for a just and lasting peace in Ukraine, including solid security guarantees.” “While diplomatic efforts continue, Europe must support Ukraine by strengthening its ability to defend itself against the relentless attacks that have left thousands of people without heat and light,” the leaders said.
