The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova establishes a special direction for the relationship with Romania

The Chisinau government decided on Wednesday to establish within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs the “Romania Relations Service”, aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation, as well as the “Cybernetic Diplomacy Service”, adapted to the new challenges in the digital field.
At the same time, the Economic Diplomacy Directorate will be reorganized in accordance with the good practices of the foreign ministries of the EU member states.
The Government of the Republic of Moldova has decided to expand and reorganize the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE), by creating new services and supplementing the staff, in order to cope with the accelerated growth of diplomatic activity and European integration objectives, writes News.ro quoting Ziarul de Gardă.
The need for these changes is determined by the constant increase in the volume of activity of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, against the background of the advancement of the accession process of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union (EU), the intensification of external cooperation and the expansion of the number of international treaties and consular files managed, the cited source shows.
The Romanian Embassy in the Republic of Moldova welcomed the decision taken by the Chisinau government, noting that it is “a natural and welcome step in strengthening strategic cooperation”.
“The institutionalization of a mechanism dedicated to the relationship with Romania confirms the importance that Chisinau gives to this privileged partnership”, declared the representatives of the embassy.
Romania remains a firm supporter of the modernization and reform efforts of the Republic of Moldova, and “the consolidation of the institutional capacity of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs contributes directly to the achievement of common objectives, especially in the process of European integration”, the embassy also sent.
