A RO-ALERT message regarding the presence of the bacterium Clostridium perfringens was sent, on Monday evening, to the population of the area of the municipality of Curtea de Argeș, informs Agerpres.
According to the alert, the use of water from the distribution network is prohibited for human and animal consumption, as well as for personal hygiene.
The water crisis in Curtea de Argeș has been going on for over three months, after the regional operator SC Aquaterm SA reported that the water distributed in the network is unfit for human consumption, as Clostridium perfringens was detected, “an extremely dangerous bacterium, which can have serious, including fatal, consequences, especially for the elderly, sick people, children and immunocompromised people”, according to a press release.
In a response given by the Government on January 30 to HotNews' request, the Executive announced that Prime Minister Bolojan asked on Friday “all the institutions involved” to analyze the situation of the 50,000 people without drinking water and present an analysis.
According to a report made by Antena 3, the latest tests carried out by the Public Health Directorate did not identify the bacteria in the water, but people say that the water smells and cannot be used.
“It smells, it smells, it smells really bad. It's hard because we're old. We have to bathe, let's say, the dishes, cook,” a local woman told the television station.
