According to a press release from FEDBET, the purpose of this platform is to bring more transparency to the public debate regarding gambling in the retail regime, by creating a digital archive that centralizes relevant data about the gambling industry in Romania, writes Agerpres.
“According to the data already available on the platform, the estimated impact of bans on traditional gambling is significant: over 1.33 billion euros total annual economic impact, almost 30,000 Romanians will be left without a job and direct losses to the state budget of over 700 million euros annually. The impact is also amplified by the reduction of funding for Olympic, Paralympic and private sports, as well as some projects financed from the National Cultural Fund and Film Fund”, it is mentioned in the communication.
The website will be constantly updated with information about the decisions adopted by the local councils regarding the organization and exploitation of traditional gambling, as well as with the analysis of the impact generated by these decisions.
The platform provides an interactive map of the impact in the main municipalities in Romania, based on official data from the register of the National Gambling Office (ONJN), which highlights the financial and social effects of the bans for each of the respective communities.
“We launched this platform so that the information is centralized and accessible to everyone, so that the public and decision-makers can better understand the real impact of the bans. In the absence of data-based policies, unwanted effects can be generated, such as the migration of consumption to the black market and the reduction of the state's ability to effectively control and regulate this field. The platform aims to offer an objective analysis tool, which will show what the real costs of the bans are and support informed decisions”said the president of the Federation of Gambling Organizers, Alexandru Domsa, quoted in the press release.
