The government amends the GEO on the European defense industry and prepares the intervention on the fuel market

The Government of Romania is to adopt on Thursday, March 26, a series of important measures, among which the amendment of the Emergency Ordinance no. 62/2025 regarding the implementation of the “Action for the Security of Europe” (SAFE) Instrument, the approval of investment projects in the road infrastructure and the adoption of an emergency ordinance for intervention on the fuel market.

According to the substantiation note of the project, the modification of GEO no. 62/2025 will introduce a new article that regulates the institutional framework for the implementation of the investment plan and the administration of the funds allocated to Romania by the European Council's Implementation Decision. In this sense, the roles and attributions of the institutions involved, as well as the collaboration mechanisms with the European Commission, will be established.
Intervention on the fuel market
Also on Thursday, the Executive will also adopt the draft emergency ordinance regarding the fuel crisis. Consultations on the subject of intervention measures took place on Wednesday, at the Victoria Palace, between Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, Minister of Energy Bogdan Ivan and representatives of employers.
According to the prime minister, the ordinance will allow government intervention in the fuel market and ensure security of supply for citizens and the economy. The measures will be based on the principles of cost sharing between the state, the private sector and consumers, adopting transparent solutions that are easy to apply and have minimal side effects.
On the agenda of the meeting is also the approval of the technical-economic indicators for the express road Suceava – Siret, investment estimated at 7.42 billion lei, as well as the re-approval of the indicators for the express road Petea – Satu Mare – Baia Mare, Satu Mare – Baia Mare sector, with a value of almost 5 billion lei.
The government will also approve Romania's annual contribution to the International Social Security Association (ISSA) for 2026 and the recognition of the “ARTSOCIETY” Cultural Center Foundation as a public utility organization.
