PZU has elected a president. Who is Bogdan Benczak?

PZU President Bogdan Benczak took up his position only half a year ago. Andrzej Klesyka won the competition scheduled after his dismissal. However, he was appointed to the management board, whose term expired at the end of 2025.
Therefore, on March 12, the company announced that there would be a qualification procedure that would involve the entire management board. There was little time to apply, because the deadline was March 27, and the candidates' interviews began four days later.
As we read in the company's announcement, on April 14, 2026, the PZU supervisory board adopted a resolution on the appointment of Mr. Bogdan Benczak to the management board of the new termentrusting him with the function of president of the management board. A new management board was also elected.
New PZU management board
The Supervisory Board appointed the following people to the PZU Management Board for the new term:
- Maciej Fedyna — member of the management board supervising risk management
- Elżbieta Häuser – Schöneich – member of the management board
- Tomasz Tarkowski — member of the management board
- Jan Zimowicz — member of the management board
- Kazimierz Karolczak — member of the management board
- Rafał Kiliński — member of the management board
Compared to the previous management board, the new composition does not include a management board member responsible for finance Tomasz Kulik and member of the management board Bartosz Grześkowiak. Two new members of the management board have been appointed – Kazimierz Karolczak and Rafał Kiliński

Bogdan Benczak is the president of PZU – who is he?
Bogdan Benczak is a legal advisor, a graduate of the Faculty of Law of the University of Warsaw, postgraduate studies at the University of Economics in Krakow and MBA management studies at the University of Gdańsk.
He took up the position of President of PZU in September 2025. Previously, from February 2025, he was employed at PZU as managing director for corporate affairs and foreign companies. Previously, in the period July 2023 – August 2024, he served as general director at ADB Gjensidige Lietuva, in 2018-2022 he was a member of the management board and president of ERGO Insurance SE / ERGO Life Insurance SE.

In the years 2015-2017 he was on the management board of AB Lietuvos Draudimas, in the period 2014-2017 he served as the president of AAS BALTA, and was also the managing director for foreign operations at PZU. His CV is complemented by the presidency in 2009-2017 at UAB PZU Lietuva Gyvybes Draudimas and in 2010-2014 at UAB PZU Lietuva.
In the years 2008-2014, Bogdan Benczak was also the director of the foreign operations office/business development office of PZU, and in the years 2008-2015 also the president of the PZU Foundation.
He has many years of experience in supervisory bodies gained on supervisory boards of companies.

Bogdan Benczak, who took over the reins at PZU in September 2025, said in an interview with Business insider Polska that one of the biggest challenges for the industry are climate, demographic and geopolitical risks.
