The Executive Committee of the FRF would resume on Thursday, April 16, the procedures for appointing Gică Hagi (61 years old) to lead the national team. The proceedings were suspended on April 7, the day the former selector, Mircea Lucescu (80 years old), died.

Romania's national football team will face Wales in Bucharest in the second friendly match scheduled for June, the Romanian Football Federation announced on the official website on Tuesday.
Thus, the tricolors will meet Georgia, in Tbilisi, at the Miheil Meshi Stadium, on June 2, and on June 6, in Bucharest, at the “Steaua” stadium, the meeting with Wales is scheduled.
The match with Wales will be the sixth between the two teams, the tricolors having a positive record: three wins, a draw and a defeat.
The last meeting between the two national teams took place in Cardiff, in November 1993, a match that confirmed the tricolors' qualification for the 1994 World Championship.
Both teams missed out on qualification for WC 2026, with Wales beaten by Bosnia in the European play-off on penalties (2-2 after two legs).
Considering the short available interval and the risk of not finding opponents for this FIFA period, the schedule of training matches in June has been set since the beginning of the year.
