Lower excise tax on fuel until the end of April. The Ministry of Finance announced the decision

According to previous regulations, the reduced excise tax rates were to apply only until April 15. Currently, they amount to 29 gr per liter of petrol and 28 gr per liter of diesel fuel, which is the lowest level allowed by European Union regulations..
The Ministry of Finance explains that the decision to extend the reduction results from “unstable situation on fuel markets caused by the conflict in the Middle East”.
The excise tax reduction is part of the government program “Fuel Prices Lower” (CPN), which was introduced at the end of March in response to the sharp increase in crude oil prices. As part of the package, the VAT rate on fuels was also reduced from 23%. up to 8 percent and a mechanism for setting maximum prices for gasoline and diesel oil was introduced. These prices are announced on business days by the Minister of Energy.
The cost of the VAT reduction on fuels for the state budget was estimated at approximately PLN 930 million, which, combined with lower excise tax, gives the total cost of approximately PLN 1.68 billion in the period from March 30 to April 30 this year.
