A strong fire broke out on Sunday morning at the Rovinari Thermal Power Plant in Gorj County, in the area of ​​the desulfurization plant. Due to the flames, energy group 5, the only one in operation at the time of the incident, was shut down, according to Digi24.

The fire occurred at the level of some technical installations, and several crews of ISU Gorj were mobilized on the spot. As a safety measure, power group 5 was shut down immediately. Trying to start another group, group 4.

The intervention of the firemen lasted about two hours, and the fire was located and extinguished before it spread to other installations of the plant, according to the cited source.

“Dense smoke was observed from a distance in the area of ​​the desulfurization plant. Power production was instantly stopped by the protection systems. The fire was located,” according to the post.

No casualties were reported, and the exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
