Krasnoyarsk residents celebrated Easter in the Church of the Nativity

12 April 15:50

In Krasnoyarsk, on the night of April 11-12, festive services were held in honor of the Holy Resurrection of Christ. The center of the celebrations was the Church of the Nativity of Christ.

The Easter service was led by Metropolitan Nikita of Krasnoyarsk and Achinsk. During the service, liturgical chants were performed by the church choir and the Sofia children's and youth spiritual choir. Accompanying the singing of the stichera “Thy Resurrection, O Christ the Savior,” a procession of the cross took place around the temple.

According to tradition, during Easter Matins the Metropolitan distributed blessed eggs to the believers and read the Catechetical Word of St. John Chrysostom for Easter.

Among the worshipers were representatives of government and the public, including the head of the public relations department of the governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Roman Barinov, as well as the patron of Krasnoyarsk churches, Vladimir Moskovchenko.

Metropolitan Nikita read out the Easter message of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus' to the archpastors, pastors, monastics and all the faithful children of the Russian Orthodox Church, and at the end of the Liturgy, he addressed those gathered with an archpastoral word and congratulated everyone on Easter:

“Christ is Risen! These wonderful words contain the whole essence of our Orthodox faith. I cordially congratulate everyone and wish that the light of Christ’s Resurrection never fails in our hearts. To all of us – a joyful and peaceful Easter! May the Lord bless you all!”
