Asha Bhosle, the 'queen of film music' of India, has died at the age of 92

Asha Bhosle, a legendary Bollywood singer who became a cultural icon, has died at the age of 92, her son has confirmed, quoted by the BBC.
Bhosle, nicknamed the unrivaled queen of Indian film songs, passed away in Mumbai after being admitted to hospital following a heart attack.
Her death marks the end of an era in Bollywood music: her career spanned more than eight decades and spanned more than 12,000 songs.
Bhosle's distinctive voice brought life to countless film songs as actors lip-synced to her unforgettable tracks.
Internationally, she became known for her collaboration with the British musician Boy George.
News of his death drew a flood of tributes on social media.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi called her “one of the most iconic and versatile voices India has ever known”.
In a post on X, Modi described an “extraordinary musical career” that enriched the nation's cultural heritage and touched “countless hearts around the world”.
Born on September 8, 1933 in Goar, Maharashtra, Bhosle hails from the renowned Mangeshkar family. Raised in a musically rich family by her father, actor and classical singer Deenanath Mangeshkar, Asha began her musical journey early, singing her first song for the Marathi film Majha Bal in 1943.
