Russia does not take over a foreign territory, but recovers what is hers, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday during the meeting with his counterpart Belarus Aleksandr Lukașenko on the island of northwest Russia, commenting on the situation around the city of Ceasov and in the Donetk region (eastern Ukraine), which was recently announced by Moscow. Russian independent The Moscow Times.

Russia has been carrying a bloody war against Ukraine for over three and a half years, destroying civilian objectives and killing Ukrainian civilians, the Moscow Times, quoted by Agerpres, recalls.

During a meeting with the press, Lukașenko said that Ukraine should negotiate peace under the conditions placed by Putin, otherwise the Russian troops – which, in his opinion, bear the war successfully – “will bear everything, will conquer and go further to conquer.”

Putin suddenly interrupted Lukașenko and replicated: “They recover (what) is ours.”

The Russian president also stated in June that he considers Ukraine “ours”, because the Russians and the Ukrainians “are one people”.

Putin met with Lukașenko on the island of Valaam, located in the northern part of Lake Ladoga. On this occasion, they visited a famous monastery on the island, nicknamed the North Athos. The images published by Kremlin show both of them standing with candles in hands surrounded by clergy of the Russian Orthodox Church.

The US reiterated on Thursday evening in the UN Security Council that President Donald Trump wants an agreement to end the Russia's war in Ukraine until August 8, according to Reuters.

“Both Russia and Ukraine have to negotiate an armistice and sustainable peace. It is time to reach an agreement. President Trump has said clearly that this should be done until August 8. The United States is ready to implement additional measures to ensure peace,” said John Kelley, a high -ranking American diplomat, in front of 15 members.
