Liverpool beat Fulham 2-0 in a match of the 32nd round of the Premier League, ending Arne Slot's black run of results in the Championship.
Thanks to this success, the “Cormorants” reach 52 points and are only two lengths behind Aston Villa, in 4th place.
Historic record age at Anfield
Liverpool scored through the youngest and one of the most experienced players on the pitch, ticking off the biggest age difference between two team scorers in the same game in the entire history of the group.
After a complicated period, in which Slot's team had not felt the taste of victory in the championship since the end of February (5-2 with West Ham), the “cormorants” started bravely.
The opening score came in the 36th minute, when the child prodigy Rio Ngumoha (17 years old) checkmate the defense of the Londoners: penetration into the box, short dribbling and a fine execution with the interior.
Marco Silva's “Eagles” didn't do well either, because the table changed again.
Four minutes later, in the 40th minute, Mohamed Salah (33 years old) came on the ramp, who doubled the hosts' advantage with an elegant execution from inside the penalty area, securing the three points from the first half.
It was also Alexander Isak's comeback match. The star transferred from Newcastle for 150 million euros ticked off the first minutes after almost 4 months.
After this failure, Fulham remain “stuck” in the middle of the table, occupying the 11th position with 44 points. For Arne Slot's students, victory is the breath of fresh air needed before the “impossible mission” in Europe.
On April 14, Liverpool receives the visit of PSG, the return from the “quarters” of the Champions League. In the round, the French prevailed without problems, score 2-0.
On the other side, Fulham will travel to Brentford's field.
