According to law enforcement officials, an unknown man damaged the side window of a Land Rover SUV belonging to a local resident with a brick. The suspect was detained; he turned out to be a 53-year-old man.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated under Part 1 of Art. 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – hooliganism. Investigative actions continue, law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
It turned out that the car belongs to the people's deputy of the group “For the Future” Igor Guz. He himself commented on the event on Facebook and recorded a video about it. In the latter, he said that the defendant had a canister with an unknown mixture. In all likelihood, he was going to set the car on fire. According to Guz, he himself caught up with the offender when he tried to escape.
“The attacker who tried to set fire to my car turned out to be a native of the Lugansk region. Judging by his external signs and behavior, he is far from being one of the organizers, but rather a performer. Probably, this is exactly the approach when they choose socially vulnerable people and give them appropriate tasks,” the people’s deputy wrote.
He also suggested why this happened.
“Personally, I associate this attempt solely with my activity in relation to the Moscow church,” Guz noted. He believes it was “a clear attempt at intimidation.”
