Three Zelenogorsk high school students became the owners of a personal scholarship from the General Director of JSC PA Electrochemical Plant (Zelenogorsk, Krasnoyarsk Territory, part of the TVEL Fuel Company of Rosatom).

“A striking example of how creative thought breaks patterns,” this is how Sergei Filimonov assessed the work of the new holders of the personal scholarship of the General Director of PA ECP JSC.

The scholarship of the General Director of the Electrochemical Plant was established in 2016 on the initiative and from the personal funds of Sergei Filimonov. During this time, 42 Zelenogorsk high school students became scholarship recipients, many more than once.

For example, a ninth-grader at the Physics and Mathematics Lyceum, Marat Khaliullin, won a scholarship in the field of physical and mathematical sciences for the second time. Today he is working on creating a computer numerical control (CNC) milling machine – there is nothing like it in the school workshop. A reduced model of the machine created by Marat, after assembly and debugging, can be used in the educational process. And the scholarship holder’s plans include creating a textbook “Plasma Toroid” for the physics classroom.

Two projects at once presented to the general director of PA ECP JSC concerned the field of medical services. Thus, a ninth-grader at the gymnasium, a student of the Perspektiva Central Educational Center, Alexander Badun, is developing a complex for express diagnostics of the body’s condition. According to Alexander’s idea, the patient can measure blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and oxygen levels in the blood independently – using an automated box – immediately before an appointment with a doctor. The data is immediately transferred to the system, and the doctor no longer wastes time on measurements. 5-7 minutes of savings per appointment – and now there is time for additional patients. Or – for a more thorough analysis and diagnosis.

The prototype of the device is already ready, and plans include close cooperation with doctors. Alexander Badun, a scholarship holder in the field of technical creativity, demonstrated the prototype to Sergei Filimonov and admitted that he would use part of the funds for development – investing in a new 3D printer.

Another project from the field of medicine was presented by a tenth-grader from Lyceum No. 174, Sofia Petlinskaya, who was awarded a scholarship in the field of natural sciences. Her work is based on lean manufacturing principles. Together with RPS development specialists from the Electrochemical Plant, Sofia analyzed the first stage of medical examination in the city clinic and identified losses – unnecessary movements and waiting.

According to the schoolgirl, the introduction of individual route sheets and the combination of several measurements in one office will reduce the examination time from four to two hours.

ECP General Director Sergei Filimonov advised Alexander and Sofia to join forces: a diagnostic complex plus a logistics scheme is a ready-made product for healthcare.

Having presented the certificates, Sergei Filimonov addressed the ceremony participants:

“Your performances are a vivid example of how creative thought breaks old patterns. You looked at familiar things from a different angle and applied modern technologies where people had been working for years by inertia. Our plant is a high-tech production facility where intelligence comes first. Ideas that bring millions of dollars to an enterprise do not fall from the sky – they are proposed and implemented by people just like you. This is our engine of development. Dare, learn and remember: big challenges await you at home.”
