This is a single impulse of disgusting, where the authorities and citizens merged

Army of beggars.

The Rada voted with 269 votes for the bill, which provides for a minimum official salary of 10 subsistence minimums (about UAH 33,280). True, not for military personnel, but for police officers and rescuers. Let's be happy for them – I hope the president will sign. Well, the military personnel are still left with the same numbers as at the beginning of a full-scale war.

Stability! 21 thousand UAH has been a basic, unshakable number for the fifth year. Perhaps the most stable financial indicator among income.

Since the beginning of the war, from the end of February 2022 to May 2026 (latest data), the price increase was more than 65%. Our average salary is now 30,515 UAH. These are official monthly data from Goskomstat. And the average salary of men in Ukraine (in the army the majority are men) is 33,798. That is, the average soldier, who generally does not determine the place of his service, and therefore his income, most often receives one and a half times less than the average civilian Ukrainian. Which, by the way, belongs to himself, who has two days off a week, lives where he wants, and is not obliged to risk his health by order.

Every month, with every percentage point of inflation, the amount of real monetary support for the military falls. Every year, when adopting the state budget, the majority in the Verkhovna Rada – the designers of budget parameters in the Ministry of Finance and all others involved, including the signatory of all laws – ignore the impoverishment of the country’s defenders. The further, the less the country wants to feed its army. Because he knows: where will they go?

I have a crew friend who shot down over 25 Shaheds in a few months. Do you think someone paid them bonuses? Do you think that most of the time they receive not 22 thousand per month, but more?

I have a friend who is an interceptor pilot – several dozen shoot downs. He barely makes ends meet and wears clothes with holes. Another, also with numerous successful defeats, I gave him my dry ration so that he could save on food.

Last year I wrote about an officer I knew who lived in a car in Zhitomir to save on housing. (Thanks to everyone who offered to help back then!)

The security situation has only gotten worse since then.

This is disgusting. This is a single impulse of disgust, in which the authorities and the masses of ordinary citizens merged.

2 million draft dodgers do not want to replace the less than 1 million who are already in the army, creating the opportunity to serve in turns for several years. And several hundred people in power have still not found sources for indexing the monetary support of defense force fighters.

The majority does not want to fight or feed the army. There is money, there are people – there is simply no desire. There is only one reason: because they know that the army will not come and take them by the throat.
