In Krasnoyarsk, at the Rossiya national center, schoolchildren were introduced to the educational project “Space Odyssey”. More than 40 students attended the open lesson.
The Space Odyssey project was created by pilot-cosmonaut, Hero of Russia Alexander Lazutkin in 2004. This is a real school for a young cosmonaut: participants jump with a parachute, survive in the taiga, train on the Soyuz spacecraft simulator in Star City and go to the Vostochny Cosmodrome to see a real rocket launch.
The main goal is to attract talented young people to enterprises in the rocket and space industry, help children make an informed choice of profession and prepare a personnel reserve. Over 22 years, hundreds of participants have passed through Space Odyssey. Many today work at leading enterprises of Roscosmos.
The organizers and partners of the project spoke to the schoolchildren: pilot-cosmonaut Alexander Lazutkin, Space Odyssey graduates and finalists, representatives of educational organizations and industry enterprises. They told the kids how the project is changing lives and answered questions.
“The Space Odyssey project is a bridge between dreams and reality. Today we saw the guys' sincere interest. Our task is to not let him fade away, to help him believe in himself. After all, tomorrow these schoolchildren will come to work at our enterprises, they will create satellites and rockets. Training personnel and raising the younger generation is our main priority. Here we are working in complete unity with the position of Governor Mikhail Kotyukov, who has repeatedly emphasized: training personnel for the space industry and involving young people in science are important tasks for the region,” emphasized the Minister of Industry and Trade of the region Maxim Ermakov.
Before the lesson, schoolchildren visited an exhibition of leading enterprises in the space industry of the region: JSC RESHETNYOV, JSC Krasmash, NPP Radiosvyaz, JSC AWACS Geoservice and others. The guys saw samples of satellites, models of rockets, operational radio-electronic equipment and were able to ask questions to the engineers.
Space Week in Russia was organized as part of the Decade of Science and Technology and will become an annual event from this year.
