On Monday, the court decided to suspend the execution of the sanction until the final settlement of the trial in which the police officer contests the measure of dismissal. The decision is final and takes immediate effect.

The case became public after the publication eBihoreanul revealed, in the spring of last year, the active involvement of the police in the electoral campaign of the AUR.

According to the information that appeared at the time, Alexandra Bradea participated in campaign events, distributed electoral materials and promoted political messages, including by appearing in photos and video clips alongside candidates and activists of the party, including the leader of the formation, George Simion.

The images published on her accounts and on the “Women of GOLD” page allegedly demonstrated direct involvement in political actions, including participation in a protest organized in January 2025.

In a campaign clip, the policewoman also sent a message of mobilization to vote:
“On May 4, women vote for a safe country”citing topics such as public safety and child protection.

Clear prohibitions for police officers

The situation raised serious problems from a legal point of view, since, according to Law 360/2002 on the status of the police, the staff of the Ministry of Internal Affairs cannot be members of political parties and cannot carry out propaganda activities.

The prohibitions include the public expression of political preferences, and in this case the authorities considered that the involvement of the police exceeded this threshold, being a direct and sustained one.

Contacted at the time of the revelations, Alexandra Bradea refused to provide explanations.

I do not wish to make any further statements“, she declared, before deleting the incriminating posts.

Following an internal investigation, completed on October 10 last year, the management of the Territorial Inspectorate of the Oradea Border Police ordered the dismissal of the police officer.

Later, on December 15, the head of the institution, the quaestor Marin Bondar, signed the provision to terminate the employment relationship, so Bradea was fired.

The police officer contested the measure in court and asked for the suspension of the execution of the sanction until the final resolution of the case.

In front of the court, Alexandra Bradea claimed that her involvement was misinterpreted.

According to the documents in the file, the defense argued that:
“Without her will she was promoted as part of this party”explaining that her presence at the events had “personal character” and it was due to friendly relations with a local AUR leader.

The policewoman also claimed that she was never a member of the party and did not sign any membership.

Another argument invoked in court was the personal situation: “Until the substantive resolution of the case, the plaintiff could carry out her work at her workplace, because she does not know what else to do, because police officers are not allowed to do anything else throughout their career”.

At the same time, Bradea criticized the sanction received:
“To have the most serious penalty applied to me because I attended certain meetings or because I am friends with a person is, from my point of view, completely out of place.”

The first decision: impeachment, “the only possible measure”

Initially, the Bihor Court rejected the request to suspend the sanction, on January 6.

The court reasoned that the law prohibits any form of political involvement:
“The prohibitions […] it's not just about membership […] but they also concern the acts of supporting, of making propaganda by any means for the respective party”.

The judges also pointed out that “impeachment is the only possible legal measure, the law leaving no room for interpretation or for a milder sanction”, pointing out that the evidence demonstrates ongoing political propaganda activity.

The case later reached the Oradea Court of Appeal, which decided to suspend the execution of the sanction and reinstate the police officer until the trial is completed.

The decision is not motivated yet, but it is final and enforceable.

The head of ITPF Bihor, the quaestor Marin Bondar, confirmed her return: “She was employed as an agent at the Borş Border Police Sector. She will be reinstated there until the trial is over.”

At the same time, the management of the institution maintains its position.

“We maintain our decision, which was also maintained by the leadership of the General Inspectorate of the Border Police”, the institution transmitted.

The court's decision does not cancel the dismissal sanction, but only temporarily suspends it. The process in which Alexandra Bradea requests the annulment of the measure or its replacement with a milder one is still pending at the Bihor Court.

Until a final decision on the merits, the police officer will resume his activity as an agent at the Borș Border Police Sector.
