Earthquake near Brasov. What magnitude did the earthquake have

An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.3 on the Richter scale produced on Thursday morning in the Seismic area Făgăraș-Câmpulung, in Brașov and Argeș counties, the National Institute for Research and Development for the Physics of the Earth.

According to the quoted source, the earthquake took place at a depth of only 5 kilometers and had an second degree intensity on the Mercalli scale.

It occurred at 10:09:43 (local time of Romania).

The epicenter was located near the following cities: 23 km southwest of Brasov, 50 km southwest of Sfântu Gheorghe, 62 km north of Târgoviște, 75 km northwest of Ploiești, 83 km north-east and 93 km northeast of Râmnicu Vâlcea.

Only during September 2025, in Romania there were 11 earthquakes, with magnitude between 2 and 3.3.

The largest earthquakes this year, both of 4.4 on Richter, took place on February 13 in Buzău county, respectively on May 11 in Vrancea county.

In 2024, the most important earthquake had magnitude 5.4 and occurred in Buzau County, on September 16.
