On the eve of Cosmonautics Day and the 65th anniversary of the first manned space flight (April 12), Space Week is being held in Russia. It was the first in the history of the country and will be held annually from April 6 to 12, a decree on this was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Within its framework, scientific forums, educational marathons, thematic lessons and events are planned throughout the country.

One of the key sites of the Week was the Krasnoyarsk Territory. Honoring employees of space industry enterprises, the head of the region, Mikhail Kotyukov, noted: “We are proud that two-thirds of the orbital domestic constellation of satellites was produced here. They have become a real digital belt, the cosmic equivalent of the Trans-Siberian Railway, which unites the country.”

SUEK-Krasnoyarsk coal miners also joined the Space Week events, focusing on family and children's creativity.

At the Borodino open-pit mine named after M. I. Shchadov, a children's drawing competition “Coal and Stars: Two Elements” is being held. Young artists were asked to imagine how, for example, to draw parallels between Gagarin, the pioneer of space, and the miner who pioneered the earth, or to imagine how giant BelAZ trucks and excavators could work on the Moon or Mars, and coal would turn into stellar fuel for rockets. In addition, the organizers also left a free theme “Space through the eyes of children” so that everyone could express their dreams about distant worlds.

“Ever since kindergarten, I’ve been interested in everything related to space,” admits eleven-year-old Ulyana Yakovleva with a beard. — When my mother told me about the drawing competition, I imagined how our mining excavators help extract minerals on other planets. It was interesting to fantasize about such a topic.”

An exhibition of creative works “From the Coal Heart to the Starry Sky” opened at the Nazarovsky open-pit mine, where the competition was also timed to coincide with the 75th anniversary of the enterprise. In drawings, models of new planets and a coal mine, the contestants combined two themes – the industrial power of their native enterprise and cosmic infinity.

A unique exhibit of the exhibition was a photograph of the Nazarovsky open-pit mine, taken from the ISS and donated to the coal miners by a native of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, cosmonaut Kirill Peskov, which was not only a surprise for the miners, but also a sign of the deep connection between two, at first glance, different worlds.

“We thought: what could be bigger than combining the history of the enterprise with the history of space? This is how our exhibition was born. Looking at the works of the participants, you understand that we have been giving the country coal for 75 years, and 65 years ago the country opened the road to the stars. In both cases, this is a significant feat for the entire country. It is especially touching that our employees and their children draw mining equipment on other planets, as if the continuation of our work inevitably goes into space. And a photo from Kirill Peskov, where our section is visible from orbit, like a handshake across the sky. In the year of the 75th anniversary, such a gift is priceless,” shared the organizer of the competition, leading specialist of the personnel and social issues department of the Nazarovsky open-pit mine Natalya Zima.

The results of competitions at enterprises will be summed up in several age groups, all participants will receive certificates and pleasant gifts. But the most important thing, according to the organizers, is that creative works once again reminded everyone: both space and the bowels of the earth require courage, work and faith in one’s dreams.
