Mircea Lucescu will be buried at Bellu Cemetery, the place considered as the “pantheon” of Romanian personalities.

More than ten years ago, the trainer secured his eternal place in an area of maximum prestige: right at the main entrance, on the central alley of the cemetery. The vault of the Lucescu family was purchased by notarial concession and furnished ahead of time.

A message with a strong symbolic charge is carved on the funeral monument: “Ranks, glory, wealth, everything ends on earth, whatever beauty there is, all perish and melt. Living, how much you work, monuments, good deeds, you leave behind”.

Mircea Lucescu will be buried at Bellu Cemetery

Inaugurated in 1858, the Bellu Cemetery quickly became the most important necropolis of Bucharest and Romania. Located on a plot of land donated by Baron Barbu Bellu, the place has transformed, over time, into a true open-air museum, where funerary art merges with national history.

Over the decades, Bellu became the resting place for the country's cultural, political and artistic elites, being considered the Romanian equivalent of famous European necropolises.

Poets such as Mihai Eminescu, Nichita Stănescu and George Coșbuc, playwrights and writers such as Ion Luca Caragiale, but also great artists such as Maria Tănase or Amza Pellea are buried here. In the same place you can find prominent figures of music and art, such as George Enescu, Nicolae Grigorescu and Theodor Aman, but also personalities from the field of education and culture, such as Spiru Haret or Titu Maiorescu.

At the same time, the Bellu Cemetery also houses numerous statesmen who decisively marked the history of Romania, among them Ion C. Brătianu, IG Duca, Take Ionescu and Gheorghe Tătărescu.
