The subject of the Olympic premiums paid after Paris 2024 meant an eternal ping-pong with uncertain information between the institutions, the media and the public. Today, the gazette offers for the first time the actual and final figures paid following the cumulative performances in France. With a vital clarification: we are talking here only about the amounts from COSR, because to these were added later other hundreds of thousands/millions of euros allocated by the clubs of origin of the eligible athletes and coaches
With 9 medals in its record (3 gold, 4 silver, 2 bronze), Romania ended the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in 23rd position out of 206 participating countries.
And outside the podium, the “tricolor” delegation added two more 4th places, four 5th and none 6th places, that is, the limit up to which the competitors can collect money based on their performances at the Olympic Games.
But how much did everyone on the prize lists in rowing, gymnastics, swimming, table tennis and weightlifting, the sports that scored at the competition two years ago, really receive? Gazeta has the complete answer today, from athletes and coaches to the staff of the federations!
From the outlier lists in rowing to the final prize formula in all sports: TOTAL – 10,355,950 euros
This is the list of the centralized amounts related to the Olympic premiers from the COSR, after the Paris 2024 Olympics
After the OJ, the federations and COSR agreed in different ways to communicate punctually, quickly, fully and transparently the concrete amounts paid after Paris 2024.
First appeared in the public space the aberrant premierships from rowing, redone following the huge waves raised around the initial proposals, with the madness of 162,400 euros each in the right of the accountant and the general secretary.
Financial assumptions and scenarios were then “dripped”, but remained in a gray area in terms of communication. Now, however, it is the first time that a full official document appears on the surface, containing the unequivocal answer to the question of how much the Romanian state took out of the treasury to reward the performances in Paris.
The document obtained by the Gazette is entitled “Premier proposal centralizer – Paris 2024 Olympic Games”, and GSP sources indicate that this remained the final financial version after the Olympic Games.
And it's about a total of 10,355,950 euros!
Top 5 athletes: Radiș, Bodnar, Vrînceanu, Anghel, Popovici

Rowing naturally took the cream. Among the athletes, Simona Radiș, Ancuța Bodnar, Ioana Vrînceanu and Roxana Anghel received the largest sums: 252,000 euros.
They accumulated the prize from two medal races. All four were part of the gold crew in the 8+1 boat and added a silver each in the double oar (Radiș, Bodnar) and in the double frame (Vrînceanu, Anghel).
Behind them is David Popovici, who, from the gold in the 200m freestyle and the bronze won in the 100m freestyle, collected 224,000 euros.
And nearby is another group from rowing, with 196,000 euros each, also collected from two races. Maria Lehaci, Adriana Adam, Magdalena Rusu and Amalia Bereș completed the gold boat from 8+1 and finished only in 4th place in the four-frame final.
Colamonici, the rowing coach, the absolute leader of the premierships: 546,000 euros
Antonio Colamonici collected over half a million euros from COSR for the exceptional rowers' routes at Paris 2024
Among the main coaches, Antonio Colamonici leads, with 546,000 euros. The Italian was the coordinator of the Olympic rowing team, he had the legal right to collect the bonuses related to the medals from several crews, thus reaching more than half a million euros in earnings.
However, he left with fanfare after the Parisian edition of the Olympic Games, caught in the middle against his will in the scandal of the absurd premieres from the FRC. And in a recent exclusive interview for GSP, he emphasized that “I was awarded according to the legislation, the author of which is not me. There was a contract. I get paid a lot, because I also collected a lot of results! I took nine crews to the finals, I got five medals in Paris”.
And he added: “I am an Italian who won a lot? But I am an Italian who completely changed his situation in Romanian rowing, because in Rio he won only one medal, in London – zero, in Tokyo – already 3! It is true that a lot of money was offered after Paris, but it is equally true that the federation and COSR spend much more with those who lose medals!”.
He sued the Dinamo club for not paying him a premium supplement worth around 300,000 euros.
I am the only one who did not receive the money from Dinamo. I would have liked to avoid going to court out of respect for the scope of the club, we insisted for almost a year to resolve amicably, but nothing moved. President Ionuț Popa only spoke to me about the “Mafia” and “Camorra”. He behaved awkwardly with me

The coaches of Popovici and Cambei, identical amounts to the athletes: that's what the law says
Adrian Rădulescu, David Popovici's coach, also collected a significant pot for his athlete's remarkable journey to the 2024 Olympics
Colamonici is followed by Adrian Rădulescu, coach of David Popovici. According to the law, he received the same money as the athlete for the gold and bronze won in the Parisian pool: 224,000 euros.
Half, 112,000 euros, was also collected by the “principal” of Mihaela Camba's weightlifting staff, silver in the 49 kg category. It is about Valeriu Calancea.
The two were in Paris the protagonists of unusual moments for the public before each attempt made by the athlete. Cambei was slapped by Calancea on the back and across the arms, while the athlete herself did the same to the legs.
The explanation for those gestures was that the procedure helps stimulate blood circulation, increases adrenaline levels and attention, thus helping the competitor to energize himself physically and psychologically in the minutes before entering the competition.
324,800 euros for 60 officials from the rowing federation: the accountant – 86,800 euros, other employees – 200 euros each

Beyond the amounts that went to the other people from the technical teams or to the discovering coaches, broken down in the list, the financial values due to the federal personnel are to be followed. That is, exactly the branch from which the rowing chaos arose.
Well, at the FRC, 60 officials collected a total of 324,800 euros. In the table in the possession of the GSP, the specific names and amounts do not appear.
But information circulated in the public space in recent months indicated that the famous accountant Roxana Petrescu would finally have received 86,800 euros, almost half of the scandalous initial proposal in the amount of 162,400 euros. However, there were also employees from the federation who only received 200 euros each.
Almost 90,000 euros for the swimming federations

The next federation in the top of the premiers of federal officials, the so-called support staff, is the swimming one. As a result of the medals, 89,600 euros were distributed to the FRNPM, without knowing exactly who and how much exactly.
The same remark stands for the other three federations: gymnastics – 56,000 euros, weightlifting – 44,800 euros and table tennis – 16,800 euros.
Most likely, the beneficiaries include the presidents of the federations concerned and the general secretaries.
