Edward Iordănescu (47 years old) published a photo in which 3 of the greatest Romanian coaches of all time appear: his father, Anghel, Emeric Ienei and Mircea Lucescu, passed away on TuesdayApril 7. And Ienei, the coach who won the European Champions Cup with Steaua, died recently, 5 months ago.
Taken at the former stadium in Ghencea, the photo shows, from left to right, Anghel Iordănescu, Emeric Ienei and Mircea Lucescu. Edward, Mircea Lucescu's predecessor at the helm of the national team, named the three to be the “greatest” Romanian coaches.
Edi Iordănescu published “a picture worth a thousand words”: Anghel Iordănescu, Emeric Ienei & Mircea Lucescu
A picture is worth a thousand words…
How much history, how much strength, how much identity behind each one.
For me… THE BIGGEST.There would be another name, but I did not have the privilege of catching it. So I stop at these three.
Two went… and it was like they were immortal.
One after another, in an unfairly short time.I have memories with each of them.
I'm lucky. I am privileged.
I thank God that I had the honor of knowing them.
And I thank God that my father is still with me.Romanian football is not only losing values… but, slowly, it seems to be losing its identity as well.
God rest him!– The text published by Edward Iordănescu
