Snow in Maramureș and Suceava, where gusts of 85-110 km/h were also recorded. “Somebody explain to Santa that his contract is up”

It's snowing heavily in the north of the country, even though it's April. The images captured at Pasul Prislop Pasul, in the Rodnei Mountains, on the border between Maramureș and Suceava counties, show a winter landscape in full measure.
“Someone explain to Santa Claus that his contract has expired. The bunny is already stressed because he can't find the eggs in the snow, the lamb asks for a hat, and the bun refuses to grow because it's cold in the kitchen. How are you preparing for Easter… with skis?”, writes Bucovina TV Regional on Facebook, in a message accompanying images captured on Wednesday, April 8, in Pasul Prislop – between the localities of Borșa (Maramureș) and Cârlibaba (Suceava).
The mountain area of Suceava County was on Wednesday, April 8, until 6 p.m., under a nowcasting Code Orange warning of snow and blizzard issued by the National Meteorological Administration for the mountain area, at over 1800 m altitude.
“Snow accompanied by strong winds with gusts of 85-110 km/h, causing visibility to drop below 50 m“, stated, at lunchtime, ANM.
At the same time, a Yellow Code warning of wind intensification is valid in several counties in the country, according to the map.
Cold weather and precipitation across the country
Meteorologists say that by Friday, the weather will become particularly cold in almost all regions. Rain, sleet, snow and strong winds are forecast. In the mountains, snowfall will continue, and the snow layer will thicken in blizzard conditions, according to ProTV News.
Between April 8–10, ANM forecasts wind intensifications and mixed precipitation in most of the country. In the Southern and Eastern Carpathians, a new layer of snow of 10–15 cm will be deposited, and the amounts of water will locally reach 10–15 l/m2. Temperatures will drop significantly, and isolated fog will form.
Strong gusts and low visibility
During Wednesday, April 8, the wind will blow at 50–70 km/h in Maramureș, Transylvania, Moldova, Dobrogea, western and southern Oltenia, southern Banat and in southwestern, eastern and northeastern Muntenia. In the Eastern and Southern Carpathians, gusts will reach 70–90 km/h, and blowing snow will reduce visibility below 100 meters.

In the high areas of the Southern Carpathians and Curbură, at over 1,600 meters, gusts of up to 130 km/h and visibility below 50 meters are forecast, which is why a severe weather Code Orange has been issued.
Also on Thursday, blizzard episodes will continue in the mountains, with gusts of 70–90 km/h, and at high altitudes the wind will reach 100–120 km/h, maintaining difficult driving conditions.
