Shakhtior's delegation, present in person at the funeral of Mircea Lucescu, the most successful coach in the club's history

The news that Mircea Lucescu passed away also reached Ukraine like lightning, to the team where Mircea Lucescu had the greatest results. Those from Shakhtior Donetsk mourn the death of the legendary coach, former captain Darijo Srna announcing that the entire club will be present in Bucharest, at the great technician's funeral.

The captain of Shakhtior Donetsk, who in 2009 won the UEFA Cup alongside Mircea Lucescu, said for gsp.ro: “We heard the sad news and we are sorry. The whole delegation of our club will be present at the funeral”said the Croatian, who was coached by the Romanian technician from 2004 to 2016, winning 22 trophies together.
The Ukrainian group thanked Mircea Lucescu, the most successful manager in the history of the club: “On April 7, the legendary football coach Mircea Lucescu passed away. He was 80 years old… Mircea Lucescu coached Shakhtior from 2004 to 2016. The “Miners” played 573 matches under his leadership. The Romanian coach won 22 trophies: 8 Ukrainian Premier League titles, 6 Ukrainian Cups and 7 Ukrainian Super Cups, as well as the club's first European trophy – the UEFA Cup (2009). Mircea Lucescu holds the record for the most seasons, matches and titles won, being the most successful manager in Shakhtar's history.
