Mauro Milanese (54 years old), Mircea Lucescu's former student at Inter Milan in the 1998-1999 season, reacted after the death of the legendary Romanian coach.
Mauro Milanese testified that the group of players that year at Inter talked about the tragic event, and then he said a few words about his experience with Mircea Lucescu, calling him “an innovator”.
Mauro Milanese: “Mircea Lucescu was an innovator for those years”
“We have just commemorated the mystery in the group that we have, the Inter players from that period. We usually use it for birthdays, but a memory of Lucescu was a must, given the kind of man he was.
He was an innovator for those years. At a time when defensive tactics triumphed in our country, he was always thinking of producing an offensive game.
He worked tremendously on the lines without the ball to reach the goal. Even though in that team, with Ronaldo, Zamorano, Recoba, Baggio and Ventola, maybe it wouldn't have been necessary.
I have very good memories with him, he was a special man. During that time at Inter, he probably paid the price for the exaggerated expectations that existed for a team that had invested hugely and was full of champions.
He was a man who traveled the world, who traveled a lot and knew many cultures. He always managed to extract the best from every experience,” Milanese said, according to Tutto Mercato Web.
