Rica Răducanu reacted with pain after the death of Mircea Lucescuone of the most important people in the history of Romanian football.
The two were not only generational colleagues, but also close, even sharing the room in the national team training camps.
The former goalkeeper delivered an emotional message, in which he spoke about the special relationship he had with 'Il Luce', but also about the impact his disappearance has on him.
Rîca Răducanu, after the death of Mircea Lucescu: “I'm sorry, tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, it's my turn”
“It's a shame. Everywhere, Rapid, the national team, we were also friends, foreigners. We were both sitting in the room at the national team, what else to talk about? Easy, easy we all go, there's me and about two others, I think. We would like to live longer like everyone else, we were also someone, but if God so wills…
He wanted to take me too. He told me “come and talk to them again, bring a spell of yours”. He had a lot of faith in me, I worked with them for many years, I went to the national team, we qualified for the World and European Championships, he made me a coach with the goalkeepers. He was the godfather of my children. I'm mad bad.
When you're young you don't think about upsets. We happened to be friends, he took me to his room, we had beautiful results, I don't even know what else to say.
He was quiet, a normal boy. I used to take him to the girls, he told me he was going home. He was 100% family friendly, he didn't drink or smoke in front of others. I had these too. He always scolded me, let's not smoke, let's not drink coffee.
He made me a goalkeeper coach for the national team, I had excellent success, he also qualified us for the European and World Cups, as a coach, as a player. I stayed with him continuously, I had great results.
I'm sorry, tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, it's my turn, God won't leave us even if we've done good to the people”, said Rică Răducanu, at GSP Live Special.
