The armor of immortality is a common problem among tourists who think that the mere fact of vacation will save them from accidents. Unfortunately, reality quickly verifies their false assumptions when they get on a scooter for the first time in Phuket.

The cost of treating foreign tourists who do not have insurance is approximately 10 million baht (approx. PLN 1.1 million) every year – says one of the hospital directors quoted by Fly4free.

Therefore, the Thai authorities are considering introducing the obligation for travelers to have personal accident insurance. The policies would be checked by the Border Guard upon entering the country. It is not yet known what the minimum amount of insurance would be, or whether there would be a list of companies recognized by the government. It is worth mentioning that the costs of two-week insurance amount to PLN 200,000. euro now costs about PLN 150-200.
