April is the most important period for all orchid lovers. At this time, plants wake up after winter and actively grow green mass.
Odanko needs to slightly adjust the “menu” of the flower in order to achieve not just bright, but continuous flowering (when the old buds have not yet fallen, but new shoots are already growing), says experienced florist Victoria Radzevskaya.
During this period, orchids critically need boron. Without this microelement, the plant will produce one weak stem with a pair of flowers.
How to prepare fertilizer
Take 0.5 g of boric acid (at the tip of a knife), dilute it in 1 glass of hot water and mix thoroughly until completely dissolved. Then bring the concentrated solution to volume 3 and mix again.
How to fertilize
The best way to apply is to spray on the leaves in the morning or evening. This way, the orchid can absorb boron in a few hours, which stimulates dormant buds and activates the growth of new flower shoots.
It is not necessary to pour out the remaining solution; you can safely water the phalaenopsis at the root. However, the substrate should not be wet before this, otherwise there is a risk of flooding the plant. This “boron” fertilizing is carried out no more than once a month, strictly before the buds appear, otherwise the flowers may become deformed.
