Active preparations for the New Year celebrations are underway in Krasnoyarsk. Before the opening of the Christmas trees, traditional ice towns with slides are built in public spaces.
The concept of the ice town in the Sovetsky district will be “Zimny Yar”. An ice courtyard of Russian legends is already being installed in Cosmonauts Park, where ancient traditions come to life in the frosty shine and patterns created by our Siberian winter. At the entrance, residents will be greeted by a large ice kokoshnik. Two large gable slides will be installed for guests. The two middle slides will be decorated with openwork patterns of Gzhel and Khokhloma. A small slide will be equipped for children.

Experienced artists work on the ice sculptures. For example, Evgeniy has been working on creating New Year’s towns for 20 years.
“The time it takes to make figures depends on their complexity – from 1 to 2 days. For the ice town in the Sovetsky region, I came up with the concept, sketches, drawings, and now I myself am participating in the creation process,” the artist noted.
The main theme of the ice town of the Central region in Chernyshevsky park will become Russian folklore and fairy-tale characters. The park will feature an ice labyrinth, a themed photo zone and ice sculptures of Father Frost and the Snow Maiden. Three slides will also be built here – one large and two small, for the youngest residents of the area. Most of the facilities are almost ready; the contractor is now finishing work on a large slide. Part of the town’s contents will be built thanks to caring business representatives who financially supported the project.
“Even before Chernyshevsky Square was closed for reconstruction, we participated for several years in the creation of the ice town of the Central District. And now, after the renovation of the park, it is even more pleasant for us, together with the district and city administration, to return to organizing New Year’s events here,” she clarified Director of the Department of Regional Projects of RUSAL, Deputy of the Krasnoyarsk City Council of Deputies Elena Yuzhakova.
