It is not the first time that the former candidate chooses medical treatments abroad. In February 2025, he underwent knee surgery in a clinic in Germany, although in public speeches he frequently criticized Western medical systems and claimed that medicine would “fear-based”.

“Medicine was invented for fear”

In a previous statement, Georgescu stated: “How can a doctor, being human, know better than me what I feel? Medicine was invented for fear”.

Sources close to Georgescu state that he will use private medical services, not having health insurance. According to official statements, he has not reported any income in the last almost two years, neither in Romania nor in another European state.

Previously asked what he does for a living, Georgescu answered that “God Holds Us All”avoiding giving details about its funding sources.

No salary from 2024

From November 2024, Georgescu no longer receives income from the University of Pitesti, where he was a lecturer. The former presidential candidate requested unpaid leave for nine months, and in the academic year 2025-2026 he completely suspended his teaching activity.

Georgescu claimed to live exclusively on his lecturer's salary, but his official income was modest. In the period 2021–2024, the declared salaries varied between several hundred and several thousand lei per month, insufficient to cover a high standard of living or expensive medical treatments in the West. His last declared income was in October 2024: 7,568 lei, while his wife, Cristela Georgescu earned 2,405 lei.

Luxury life, minimal income

Despite the low declared income, Călin Georgescu lives in a villa, drives a luxury car and benefits from security services, according to previous investigations.

It remains unclear how he finances his medical treatments abroad and his lifestyle, given that he is officially listed as unemployed.

“A consolation that God gave us on the eve of the Feast of the Resurrection of Lazarus

The Bucharest Court decided on Friday, April 3, to lift the measure of judicial control imposed on Călin Georgescu in the file in which he is accused of legionary propaganda. The decision is final.

At midnight, Călin Georgescu posted a message on his Facebook page at midnight, invoking the divinity.

“Great is the Name of the Holy Trinity! With humility and gratitude we experienced today a consolation that God gave us on the eve of the Feast of the Resurrection of Lazarus. We receive this step forward as a work of God, not as a human victory. A ray of the joy of the common Resurrection”wrote Călin Georgescu in the night from Friday to Saturday on Facebook.

The former presidential candidate urged his supporters to stay “united in fasting, prayer and love”.

“Our sacrifice bore fruit: of those who came week after week with flowers and the tricolor to Bucharest and then to Buftea, in the rain, frost, wind or heat, and of those who could not physically be with us, but who supported us through prayer, fasting and good thoughts, each according to his strength. I also thank those who, in their own way, put us to the test. During this time, I understood that, beyond the trials, we are called to find ourselves with all in a common ideal: the faith and the good of the Romanian people. (…)“, added the former presidential candidate on the social network.
