“A long and significant meeting with President Trump. We discussed all really important issues. Thank you to the President, I thank the United States. We talked about how to achieve a suspension of weapons and a real peace” – wrote Zelanski on Platform X.
The head of the Ukrainian state added that he also talked to the US president about the protection of Ukrainian citizens. “We appreciate the attention and willingness to help at approximately peace,” he noted.
Zelanski assured that he would pass all the details of the meeting at a later date. The presidents of Ukraine and the USA met in the margins of the NATO summit, the meeting lasted nearly 50 minutes – the suspilne portal informed.
Ukraine wants the common production of drones from the USA
“We talked about the protection of our citizens, primarily about the purchase of American air defense systems to protect our cities, people, churches and infrastructure. Ukraine is ready to buy this equipment and support American weapons producers. Europe can help. We also talked about possible joint production of drones. We can strengthen each other” – wrote Zelanski on the platform X.
The leaders also talked about meetings of the Technical Team in Istanbul and the exchange of prisoners and bodies of the fallen. Zelanski emphasized that Russia also gave the bodies of its military, some of the passports. “Russia gave us the bodies of its dead. Now we are conducting research in Kiev to find their relatives” – he noted.
“We talked about the situation on the battlefield. Putin definitely does not win. I presented the President facts about what is really happening in the field. Thank you for the meeting and support,” said the president. He also presented the situation on the front line and the growing number of mass Russian attacks on civil infrastructure and people.
The previous meeting of the leaders took place on April 26 in Rome, when Zelnski and Trump participated in the funeral of Pope Francis.
